Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has now made health and physical education programmes compulsory for the students of classes 9 to12. The new policy will now get implemented across 19316 schools pan India that is d to the CBSE, from the just begun new academic session, irrespective of the subjects or stream opted by the students. 42491l

The board was contemplating on starting the programme of health and physical education since long but now it has got implemented in all schools that are d to the CBSE across the country.

The main reason behind introducing the new health and physical education programmes in school is for the better mental and physical development of students both boys and girls. Apart from exercises and yoga, students will be taught about nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation. The circular regarding the commencement of health and physical education programme has been ed by CBSE across all its schools in India and the school authorities have been directed to bring it into implementation as soon as possible.

Apart from the practical training, students will also be taught in theory regarding the same topic as a mainstream subject from the academic session 2018-2019 from classes 9 to 12. Also, CBSE has prepared a separate syllabus regarding this programme. Students, as well as their parents, have also welcomed the initiative to the board for thinking about the holistic development of the students.

Prior, to this circular, the programme for health and physical education were optional for the students and was only taught to those who have picked the subject out of their preference. But now from this academic session, it has been compulsory for one and for all. A separate period for its classes will be set in the daily timetable of classes 9 to 12 in all CBSE schools.

Previously, the subject of health and physical education was the only option for the students of classes 11 and 12 under Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) but now the students of classes 9 and 10 will also be able to study this programme and increase their knowledge for physical as well as mental development.
